10. Haru Glory vs Captain Hardner in Rave
simply, my favorite battle in the manga Rave. it happened on the Blue Guardian’s Mother Ship the Albatross. its a battle between the Rave Bringer Haru Glory, against a Mother DB Bringer and the boss of the Blue Guardian Pirate Hardner. Haru have to fight this strong opponent because he Hardner is one of the main figure of the Dark Rendezvous Project proposed by Lucia Rareglove. and also, because Hardner is the user of the Mother DB Anastacia. His DB can simply heal his wound and bring his opponent’s old wound back. simply stunning power ! he lost due to Haru and Elie’s strange power which weaken any mother DB if they fight together.
9. Roronoa Zoro vs Kaku of CP9 in One Piece
its simply one of the funniest anime battle ever. its happened in the Enies Lobby arc when the Straw Hat crew are going to rescue one of their crew, Nico Robin who has been held by the marines. the Crew has to fight against a government secret police, the CP9. Nami against Califa, Usopp against… (well, he is fight no one, fought Jabura for a moment but get beaten easily), Sanji against Jabura, Chopper against Kumadori, Franky against Fukurou and Luffy against Blueno and Rob Lucci, while Zoro fights the Giraffe fruit eater, Kaku. They fought these agents to get the key to open Nico Robin’s (soon Zoro and Sogeking aka Usopp’s too) Handcuffs.
okay, I will write about Zoro and Kaku’s battle here. from the beginning, the battle seems to be serious as Zoro claimed that Kaku is a great swordman. he is, he use 2 swords in the beginning, a nameless sword, until he finally reveal that he use 4 swords, 2 swords in his hand, and 2 of his legs can be functioned as a sword, as he as a master of the Rokushiki, he can use the Rankyaku to slash his opponent apart. the stupid thing started when Kaku is trying to demonstrate his devil fruit power. Using the power of the Ushi-Ushi fruit model Giraffe, he can turn himself into a Giraffe. a stupid giraffe. a big one. a big one with a box shaped nose. that’s just stupid. Zoro even laugh at him. so does his friend Jabura. and Usopp. the battle is getting complicated as Usopp (Sogeking) accidentally wear a handcuff and stupidly handcuffed Zoro because he’s laughing at Kaku’s face. finally, Zoro decided to use Usopp as his sword. he even named it, the Hana arashi or the nose storm (since Usopp has a long nose).
after some funny scene there, they’re finally manage to open their handcuff. and Zoro finally fights Kaku seriously. the battle still gone insanely funny although Kaku is performing strong but stupid move as his variation of Rokushiki. one of them is Rankaku Amanedachi that manage to cut off the Enies Lobby tower into two pieces. the battle ends as Zoro use his new moves, and his strongest move, the Kyuutouryuu Ashura Ichibugin. this move made Zoro ‘have’ six arms, 3 heads, and 9 swords. Zoro simply slashed Kaku under his illusion. the battle ended as Zoro told Kaku that he’s fired from the galley-la.
8. Lockon Stratos vs Ali Al Saachez in Gundam 00
battle of revenge ! the new Lockon Stratos, Lyle Dylandy avenge his family by fighting Ali Al Saachez who killed his brother, the old Lockon Stratos in his last battle, his mother, father and sister in a terrorist bombing when he was a little kid.
in this battle of revenge, Lockon managed to defeat Ali in his favored battle place, a launching dock when he can do his close range battle. But, fueled by his hatred to Ali, Lockon manage to defeat Ali with his Cherudim Gundam. things are getting worse with Ali since Tieria Arde started his trial field to shutdown the Gundam Throne Zwei. after Ali get out from his mobile suit, he is chased by Lockon. Lockon managed to point his gun at Ali’s head, but Ali always have something up his sleeve. but it is not that easy to fool on Lockon, as he finally shot Ali right in the head, ending Ali’s life and Lockon’s hatred.
7. Kakegawa vs Kiyocyu in Shoot! Hot Challenge
one of the best match in the Shoot! Hot Challenge series. Kiyocyu is an underdog team which managed to the Interhigh tournament, powered by Ryo Okuyama, Toshihiko Tanaka’s childhood friend who is considered as a genius in football. Ryo is told to be having something so he can read how is the final score in a match, or someone who will get injured, and other things that happened on the field.
Ryo predicted that the match will ended by 3-2 for Kiyocyu. as the match begin, Kakegawa didn’t have their two best players, Toshihiko Tanaka and Atsushi Kamiya. Toshi left Japan to learn the Phantom Dribble in Spain, while Kamiya is having problem with his injury, so that he can only play for 10 minutes in each match. at the beginning of the match, an epic teamwork between Tsuboya, Mahori, Nitta and Kazuhiro made Kakegawa lead for 1-0. but still, Ryo seems to be calmed, with mysterious smile on his face. the game goes on, as Ryo reminded the Kakegawa that Kakegawa only have 10 minutes to run free. in this pressure, Kakegawa managed to score their second goal via Mahori-Saiki-Koshuge combination (Koshuge is the goal scorer). 2-0 for Kakegawa.
and right after the second goal, the magical play of Kiyocyu finally showing their true form. Kakegawa’s player starting to get dizzy by Kiyocyu “lucky” play. and they managed to score their first goal via Kaido, the captain, after an amazing play by Ryo who assisted him. 2-1 Kakegawa still leading. still, Kiyocyu is marched on with their magical play. what I mean by the magical play is, every time Kakegawa’s player made a mistake, Kiyocyu player are always there to get the ball. after some havoc that run wild in Kakegawa’s defense, Ryo managed to scored Kiyocyu’s second goal with his invisible shoot (a shoot that used a limitation of human eyes to see a moving object). and its half time, and the score is 2-2. earlier in the match, I forgot to write, that Ryo stated that Shiraishi will be colliding with Mahori in the second half.
finally the second half is started. finally, Kakegawa’s field general, Atsushi Kamiya entered the field. in the beginning of the match, Kakegawa almost scored their 3rd goal, if only Tsuboya, their young winger shoot the ball right to the net, instead of giving the ball to Otsuka. from this moment, the secret of Ryo’s prophecy is starting to be unveiled. Ryo’s prediction that Shiraishi will be colliding with Mahori is really happened. but too bad for Kiyocyu, as the ball getting near to the goal, Hiramatsu is there to clean the ball, as Ryo tried to shoot, suddenly Shiraishi woke up and catch the ball. its only an act between Shiraishi and Mahori. as Shiraishi kick the ball with his monstrous power, Mahori is there in the front of the field to take Shiraishi’s ball and score it into the opponent’s net, 3-2 for Kakegawa. Mahori finally challenged Ryo with his “Brazillian Malice” a rude tactic like : pulling opponent’s shirt, faking injuries, etc. as the game go on, Ryo managed to get a penalty and sent off Koshuge via a diving, faking injury, and making Koshuge angry at the referee, and get red carded. the situation is getting worse as Ryo managed to score the penalty, and Kamiya can’t stand on the field anymore, since it has passed the 10 minutes limit.
3-3 for Kiyocyu, Kamiya is insisting that he is not going to be substituted as the Kakegawa is fighting a very strong team with only 10 players. and finally, Toshi, the Kakegawa ace showed up on the field, and he replaced Kamiya. and finally, Toshi showed his new dribble, the phantom dribble. Toshi managed to pass most of Kiyocyu player, including Ryo and scored his goal so that Kakegawa lead 4-3. as Kakegawa is on rage, they keep on striking and finally, Kazuhiro show his high technique as he passed the ball through Ryo’s head, onto the net by his famous “double heel kick”. Toshi finally finished off Kiyocyu with his second goal, and it is 6-3 for Kakegawa. as the match ended, Ryo cried and said that he will join Kakegawa (although until the end of the series he never done so). and yeah, the secret of Kiyocyu Magical play is, Ryo always screaming to his team mate on where to go, but its only a fake signal, as the real signal is by his hand sign.
6. Monkey D. Luffy vs Rob Lucci of CP9 in One Piece
At the Galley-La headquarters in Water 7, Lucci effortlessly defeats Luffy in a relatively short fight. Later in Enies Lobby, Luffy chases after Lucci and initiates a second fight with him. The two engage in an extremely hectic and boisterous fight from which Lucci still holds a noticeably advantage where Lucci bests, outlasts, and survives Luffy’s attacks and counters with twice as much power. Luffy is later joined by Franky but even with the added reinforcement the two of them are still woefully outmatched by Lucci. During the fight, Luffy is incapacitated and Franky is nearly killed by Lucci’s Shigan Ouren until Luffy uses his Gear Second technique, to which he promptly began beating on Lucci even in his half-beast form. However, Lucci still manages to gain the advantage when the Gear Second effect wears out, leaving Luffy in the same situation. At this point, Lucci floods the tunnels with water by using Rankyaku to break the wall, to stop Luffy’s crew from escaping and taunts Luffy, asking him whether he will continue to fight or rescue his friends and promptly escapes to higher ground, Luffy pursues him claiming that if he couldn’t defeat Lucci, he couldn’t protect any of his nakama.
The fight continues with Lucci easily countering every one of Luffy’s attacks and thrashes him around so much he could barely stand anymore. Rob Lucci, confident that Luffy used up all his energy using Gear Second, remarks that he is helpless before him like so many other pirates. In response, Luffy chuckles and claims that he is going to use a different strategy and activates Gear Third. Luffy, using the humongous strength of Gear Third, punches Lucci so hard that he is flung all the way onto a Buster Call ship, almost passing out in the process. Nevertheless, he takes advantage of Gear Third’s lack of speed to quickly strike Luffy down with another Tobu Shigan Bachi, causing Luffy to deactivate Gear Third. He then uses Rankyaku Gaichou for the very first time in the air while Luffy is down on a Buster Call ship to finish him off, causing an explosion and cutting through steel on the ship. Monkey D Luffy was fortunate that it was close; had he been actually hit by Lucci’s strongest Rankyaku technique, he would have been literally split in two. Rob Lucci, while using Geppou to hop in the air, comments that, whether Monkey D. Luffy is being serious or joking around, the fact that he is still alive is entertaining - and, if he were to die from such a bombardment, that it would be boring. He then uses Kamisori to get to where Luffy is, and thrashes him again.
While Luffy is down and still deflated from deactivating Gear Third, Rob Lucci says that Gear Third is a very unbalanced technique and that he says that Luffy is willing to take the hits, in exchange for that power. He uses Seimei Kikan: Kami-e Bushin to make his hybrid form smaller and thinner and attacks Luffy with Shigan, crashing him to the wall, and destroy a part of it. While Lucci is choking Luffy who is now stuck to the wall, he was going to say that his stupid attack isn’t going to hurt, but was interrupted when Luffy punched him, angering him and smashes Luffy into the wall further. With Luffy now completely stuck to the wall, Lucci comments that is unfortunate, but in Luffy’s “stupid” form, he told him to die. Rob Lucci then attempts to end the fight quickly with Shigan Madara, with Luffy in danger that if his body isn’t back to normal, he would certainly die. But suddenly, Lucci partially collapses, realizing that Luffy had managed to fracture both his legs with Gear Third.
Now partially disabled, he is easily beaten down by Luffy. While Rob Lucci is down by Luffy’s Gear Second Gomu Gomu no Jet Pistol, he says that he will show Monkey D. Luffy the most powerful technique to those who has absolute mastery over Rokushiki, using Soru in front of Luffy. He then pulls and uses his trump card - his ultimate move and the most powerful technique in Rokushiki, Rokuougan - to severely injure Luffy, evening the odds once again. Luffy claims that Rokuougan is like an Impact Dial, but with greatly amplified power. Rob Lucci, in his smaller form, then attempts to finish off Luffy with another Rankyaku Gaichou. Luffy continues to press the fight, but Rob Lucci says that his Gear Second technique is starting to lose its edge, while saying that after all, it was imposslble for Luffy to escape Enies Lobby, and also says he was right.
He then continues by saying that even if this island lost its shape, he’ll pursue Nico Robin to the end of the earth, and obliterate her or anyone who gets in the way of World Government, all in the name of “Dark Justice”, while attacking Luffy with many Rankyaku shock waves, with Luffy countering them with his punches, but Luffy says that they come this far to set Robin free from such a thing. He then attacks Lucci with Gomu Gomu no Jet Stamp, but it was evaded by Lucci’s Soru. Rob Lucci then use another Rokuougan on Luffy to greatly damage him again, having him face down in a pool of his own blood. Lucci comments that he would still kill Luffy’s crew no matter how hard Luffy tries to prevent him from doing so. Lucci remained confident even after Luffy gets up again due to Ussop’s encouragement. Lucci uses his Seimei Kikan: Kaijo to return to his giant, stronger form, saying that he will defeat Luffy with all of his power at once. He continues talking to Luffy by saying not to worry about his nakama, as he’ll send every single one of them to hell. Continuing the fight with his opponent, Luffy he uses Shigan Madara again, while Luffy counters it with his punches.
After getting hit again by Luffy, he attempts to use Rokuougan again, but Luffy in Gear Second tries to get out of its range, and saying that he won’t get hit by that attack again, but Lucci uses his tail to prevent him from escaping the technique. Rob Lucci is determined to end the fight once and for all by channeling all of his power into his next and strongest attack, Saidairin: Rokuougan to greatly wound Luffy once more, but this ultimately proves part of his downfall as it weakened him after using it (and angers Luffy even further.) When Rob Lucci turned around after performing his ultimate attack on Luffy, he is still standing behind him, surprising Lucci as he now turns around to see Luffy unleashing an attack on him. Recalling all the pain Lucci had put Robin and his friends through, Luffy unleashes a brutal Gear Second “Gomu Gomu no Jet Gatling” attack on Lucci. Rob Lucci attempts to use Tekkai to deflect the blows, but unfortunately for him, the enormous attack strikes Lucci so hard and fast it’s like he’s being hit with dozens of fists all at the same time. The attack smashes Lucci against and through a brick wall, leaving him unconscious and defeated.
